On December 18th, at 5.30pm, we open the Streetscape Territories exhibition on Merkato, Addis Abeba at the campus Sint-Lucas Brussels (Paleizenstraat 67) through a debate with the title “The Market, the City” with international guests Helawi Sewnet (ET), Zegeye Cherenet (ET), Gunnar Hartmann (DE) and moderated by Kris Scheerlinck.

The exhibition is based on five years of conducting design research projects on Merkato (supported by VLIR-UOS, Global Minds KU Leuven and Faculty of Architecture) and curated by Matteo Paracchini, Arnout De Schryver, Vincent Chukwuemeka and Kris Scheerlinck.

On the same day, a research seminar is organised on markets in emerging contexts by the research group “Urban Projects, Collective Spaces & Local Identities” (see https://arch.kuleuven.be/agenda/research-seminar-forms-of-adaptations-within-urban-markets-in-emerging-cities)
